An institutional meeting that, from a courtesy visit, transformed into a direct discussion on the industrial future of the area. The mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco, Raffaele Russo, received a delegation of Stellantis Italy, taking the opportunity to request clarification on the prospects of the city plant and the performance of the national automotive sector.
During the meeting, representatives of the automotive group acknowledged the ongoing challenges facing the Italian sector, but also announced that positive developments are expected at the Pomigliano plant. Specifically, they confirmed the presentation, in May, of a detailed industrial plan designed to clarify the plant's production and employment strategies.
The meeting also focused on the sensitive issue of Trasnova workers, who are at risk of dismissal starting May 1st. On this front, the municipal administration has been informed that discussions are underway, through the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, to find a solution before the layoffs take effect. A possible solution could emerge as early as the meeting scheduled for March 11th.
"We appreciated the Stellantis representatives' willingness to engage in institutional dialogue," Mayor Russo stated, emphasizing that "although it was a courtesy visit, it was necessary to seek clarification on the future of the plant and the situation of the Trasnova workers." The mayor added: "We eagerly await the presentation of the industrial plan announced for May and will continue to monitor to ensure concrete prospects for the Pomigliano production site and effective protections for the workers involved."

The meeting between the mayor and Stellantis seems important, but I don't know if the positive news will be real or just words. The Trasnova workers are in a difficult situation, and I hope everything turns out well for them and the industry.
