Portici – One hundred and twenty minutes of freedom and joy, then a return to bitter reality. In Portici, petty crime doesn't even spare youth gathering places, targeting a young boy who had just fulfilled his dream of owning an e-bike.
The theft, which occurred quickly, was captured by surveillance cameras in the parish on Via Dalbono.
The dynamics of the raid
The incident occurred in the late afternoon of February 2nd. The young owner had arrived at the oratory's playground for a game of soccer with friends, leaving his electric bicycle—purchased just two hours earlier—regularly secured in the parking spaces.
Despite the use of a chain and padlock, the criminal took action around 20:30 PM. With a speed that suggests a criminal habit, the thief forced the barriers and disappeared into thin air, leaving the young owner in complete despair at the end of the athletic challenge.
The complaint and investigations
The victim's parents, after filing a formal complaint with the Portici Carabinieri station, reported the incident to Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Green-Side Alliance.
The report given to the Carabinieri confirms that the vehicle had been secured, but the protection wasn't enough to stop the raid. Investigators are now examining surveillance footage to try to identify the perpetrator.
Borrelli's accusations
"We are witnessing a shocking act of criminal effrontery," commented harshly Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who has already forwarded the video footage to the authorities. The MP emphasized the gravity of attacking a minor in a place like the oratory: "Parents make enormous sacrifices for their children, and these criminals destroy everything in a matter of seconds, confident of impunity.
We can't resign ourselves to the idea that a young person should have to fear being robbed while playing sports. We need constant surveillance and zero tolerance for these 'dream snatchers' who infest our streets."
