Pozzuoli– An afternoon of violence and fear unfolded last Thursday at a home in Pozzuoli, where the prompt intervention of the State Police prevented yet another domestic assault from turning tragic. A 34-year-old man of Neapolitan origins was arrested on charges of domestic violence.
The alarm was raised by a report to the Operations Center, which immediately dispatched officers from the local police station to the couple's home. Upon their arrival, the officers found the victim in a state of severe agitation.
The woman told the operators a tragically familiar scenario: an outburst of rage from her partner, who had verbally and physically attacked her before temporarily walking away. It wasn't an isolated incident, but the latest in a series of abuses she had suffered over time.
Just as the officers were taking the woman's statement, the 34-year-old man returned to the entrance. In a threatening and visibly aggressive manner, the man attempted to force entry into the apartment, regardless of the presence of his uniform. The officers promptly stopped him, interrupting the violent act and placing handcuffs on his wrists. The arrested man is now at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

It seems like a sad story to me, but I don't understand how such things can still happen. The woman said a lot of things, but the matter must run its course. The police intervened quickly, but the man returned and tried to force his way in, a sign that the problems are still ongoing.
