Carabinieri from the Pozzuoli Company are intensifying their high-impact operations in the Phlegraean Fields. Overnight, mass searches and identification operations led to one arrest and numerous reports.
Arrest for cocaine dealing
A 35-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs with intent to sell. Officers from the Licola station caught him attempting to dispose of 11 doses of cocaine. His home, searched immediately afterward, revealed another five doses of the same substance, cleverly hidden in a washing machine.
Checks: 70 identified and 50 vehicles inspected
The operation covered Bacoli, Monte di Procida, and Licola. Seventy people were identified and 50 vehicles were checked, resulting in five traffic violations resulting in fines totaling €3.500. Personal searches were also conducted for weapons and narcotics, as well as checks of commercial establishments.
Ten reports, from snatching theft to the axe attack on a pensioner
Ten people have been charged at large with various crimes, including possession of hashish for the purpose of trafficking (with €900 in cash), theft by snatching, driving without a license with a two-year recidivism record, and providing false information.
Particularly unusual is the case of a 77-year-old Neapolitan pensioner, already known to law enforcement. Stopped while driving, he was found in possession of a 27-centimeter-long axe. "I'm going to the countryside," the elderly man explained, but was subsequently charged with illegal possession of an improper weapon.

It's interesting to see how the Carabinieri are stepping up patrols in the area, but I wonder whether these operations will actually lead to a decrease in crime or if they're just temporary. The situation is complex and requires constant attention.
