A raid on the offices of the ASI Consortium in Caserta: Unknown individuals targeted the protocol office, damaging rooms and equipment but taking nothing. It was described as "a demonstrative act with an intimidating feel," raising questions about who and why chose this specific target during a time of profound institutional instability within the organization.

The incident was reported by ASI President Raffaela Pignetti, who in a Facebook post described it as a "serious incident" occurring at "a particularly delicate time for the Caserta ASI Consortium and for myself." The action, which occurred at night, caused material damage but did not result in the theft of documents or equipment, according to the reconstruction of the initial hours.

The interested party emphasizes that the protocol office's control is a crucial point for the institution: documents, paperwork, and resolutions pass through here, a fundamental part of administrative transparency and data retention.

"Delicate phase" and tensions over governance

"This is a serious incident that occurs at a particularly delicate time," wrote President Pignetti, referring not only to the raid but also to "media attacks and pressure of various kinds" that have been targeting the organization and its governance for months. In this context, the ASI Consortium is experiencing a crucial juncture: procedures are underway to renew its positions, including the presidency and the Board of Directors, whose terms expired a few days ago and are now being extended.

The General Council, composed of the mayors of the member municipalities, will appoint four of the five members of the Steering Committee, including the president; the fifth member is appointed by the region. Pignetti, president since 2014, remains in the running for a possible reappointment, further complicating the political and institutional landscape surrounding ASI.

An intimidating message?

For this reason, the raid is being interpreted as a politically charged event. "Even given the time of day the action occurred," the president explains, emphasizing that it's a time slot during which she may still be in the office. The decision to target the protocol office, the central hub of the administrative system, is being interpreted as a signal of transparency and data security.

"Attacking an institutional body, violating its integrity and accessing a key office like the Protocol Office," he added, "is a violation of administrative transparency, data security, and the proper functioning of the public machine. This is a matter of deep concern."

Hence the call for institutional protection: "Caserta cannot become a no-man's land. Institutions must be protected, especially when they play a strategic role in industrial development and the region's legality. Legality cannot be intimidated."

Investigations and connection hypotheses

The State Police has launched an investigation into the incident, tasked with reconstructing the dynamics of the raid, identifying any perpetrators, and determining whether the act could be linked to the complex period the ASI is experiencing, marked by political tensions, office renewals, and pressure on governance. Technicians are examining video surveillance systems and office access data in an attempt to identify possible physical and security traces.

Meanwhile, the consortium is further securing its offices, especially the most sensitive areas, and is evaluating possible protection measures for staff and documentation.

The raid, though limited in material loot, remains potentially significant for its symbolic value: a signal in the clash over control of the Caserta industrial entity, at a time of changing positions and new political alliances.
