Acerra – Not just a theft, but an act of vandalism that struck one of the community's most sensitive areas. During the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, unknown intruders entered the kindergarten at Secondo Circolo Didattico on Via dei Mille in Acerra, vandalizing classrooms, toys, and educational materials intended for the children.
A window was forced to enter the building
The intruders broke into the building by forcing open a window. Once inside, they stole five laptops, some of which were very old, but more importantly, they destroyed and vandalized toys, drawings, and crafts made by the young students. The school's intercoms were also damaged, having been uprooted during the attack.
The harsh condemnation of the municipal administration
The municipal administration has taken a firm and immediate stance. Mayor Tito d'Errico and Councilor for School Policies Milena Petrella, on behalf of the entire council, have expressed strong condemnation of what happened.
"We express our firm and unequivocal condemnation of the extremely serious act of vandalism that occurred last night against the nursery school complex of the Secondo Circolo Didattico," they declared. "A vile and unacceptable act that strikes one of the most precious places in our community."
"The serenity of the little ones has been affected"
In their speech, the mayor and councilor emphasized the symbolic and social value of preschool. "It is a space for growth, play, social interaction, and serenity for our children. Attacking the smiles and carefree spirit of the little ones is an unworthy act," they reiterated.
They also have confidence in the work of law enforcement, already working to identify those responsible. "We are confident that the usual, daily efforts of law enforcement will soon lead to the identification of the culprits," they added.
Proximity to school and commitment to safety
In its final message, the municipal administration reiterated its support for the school community, ensuring its utmost commitment to restoring safety and serenity as soon as possible.
"Today, more than ever, it is necessary to rediscover the value of respect, civic duty, and love for the public good. We will work to ensure that school continues to be a safe and protected place for all the children of Acerra," concluded d'Errico and Petrella.
