Marcianise – A daring but short-lived coup: Carabinieri from the Marcianise Company arrested two men red-handed on charges of aggravated robbery involving conspiracy and the use of weapons.
The two, a 35-year-old and a 57-year-old resident of Capodrise and already known to law enforcement, targeted the “Pro Shop” home goods store on Via Vittorio Veneto shortly before closing time.
The suspicious arrival and the raid
It all started when officers, on a patrol, noticed a blue Fiat 500 with two occupants acting suspiciously near the shop. The car was found stolen: it had been reported stolen on December 27th in Macerata, Campania.
One of the two robbers—his face covered—entered the store armed with a knife with a blade approximately 30 centimeters long. Under threat, he forced the owner to hand over the day's takings: €395. He then fled, catching up with his accomplice who was waiting behind the wheel.
The rapid intervention of the Carabinieri
The police intervened immediately, preventing the two from escaping. The driver was arrested after resisting arrest, while the armed robber attempted to flee on foot. A brief chase ensued, ending in a scuffle; both were eventually arrested. Three Carabinieri officers sustained minor injuries during the operation.
The vehicle used to arrive and escape, the knife used to threaten the victim, and the stolen money were seized. Following the completion of the standard investigations, the two were taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, where they will be held by the judicial authorities pending the hearing to validate their arrest and the judgment for the validation of their custody.
This operation once again highlights the effectiveness of widespread surveillance across the territory, especially around business closing times, which are typically times of greatest vulnerability for hit-and-run robberies.

It's strange that law enforcement is able to intervene immediately in such serious cases, but there are often communication problems between different agencies. I hope there will be improvements for future similar events and greater safety for everyone.
