An evening of sport and entertainment turned violent on Thursday, February 12, at the Holly e Benji Sports Center in Casalnuovo, where the Naples League final between Napoli Creators and Borussia Dortmund was interrupted by a violent brawl that broke out on the pitch.
A footballer was injured in the clashes and carried away on a stretcher, while dozens of people clashed in a massive brawl involving players, benches, and the crowd.
The episode that triggered the brawl
The match, which saw Napoli Creators trailing 5-4 with just minutes remaining, descended into chaos during an offensive move by the Neapolitans. A ball was allegedly thrown onto the pitch from the Borussia Dortmund bench, an act that triggered an immediate reaction.
Within moments, tensions erupted: punches and kicks were exchanged, the pitch was invaded, and the stands were completely emptied, with numerous fans climbing over the fences to join the clashes.
According to witnesses and videos posted on social media, dozens of people were involved in the brawl, causing moments of great fear among those present.
The evening event was ruined by violence
The event drew a large crowd, selling out in just 20 minutes with free admission upon online reservation. The evening was further enhanced by the presence on the pitch of Fabio Quagliarella, former Napoli and national team striker, who returned to his hometown to play for Napoli in an amateur tournament.
What was supposed to be a sporting event turned violent, forcing the organizers to permanently suspend the match while emergency services rushed to assist the injured player.

It's truly a shame that an evening of sports ended so badly; violence should have no place at these events. I hope solutions are found to prevent this from happening again, especially with so many children in attendance.
