Chaos erupted this morning at the Maresca Hospital in Torre del Greco, where the operating room on the fourth floor was suddenly closed due to "technical problems." Surgical operations had begun as normal, but during the morning, officials ordered access to the area to be blocked, interrupting scheduled operations.
False ceilings and leaks under accusation
The cause of the shutdown is said to be health and hygiene issues related to the ward's suspended ceiling. "It's a long-standing problem," a nurse reports, "because apparently there are leaks," an internal source explains. The conditions allegedly made the operating room unsuitable, requiring the immediate suspension of operations.
Alleged fly infestation in the ward
According to rumors circulating among staff, the decision was precipitated by the abnormal presence of flies within the surgical area. This situation was deemed incompatible with required sterility standards, forcing the staff to prematurely conclude the procedures.
Sanitization is already underway, reopening in the next few days
The health management immediately began sanitization and structural inspection of the facilities. Once the work is completed and hygienic conditions are restored, the operating room should be operational again in the coming days, resuming its normal surgical schedule.
