Salerno, De Luca breaks the ice: "Yes, I'm running for mayor."

Salerno – Vincenzo De Luca has broken the ice and confirmed the rumors that have been circulating for months, but have never been denied: he will run for mayor of the city.

"I'm ready to start over. We need to reclaim Salerno and the province," declared the governor of Campania, responding with a firm yes to rumors of his return to the race. Caustic about the provincial Democratic Party considering his candidacy, De Luca cut short: "Whoever wants to vote for me, will vote for me."

The move by De Luca, former mayor of the city from 1993 to 2001, shakes up the local political scene ahead of the upcoming administrative elections.

It's interesting to see De Luca running for mayor again, but I wonder if he's really the right choice for Salerno. Politics is complicated, and there are many issues to resolve. I hope he does well.
