Naples – The Teatro di San Carlo has closed its financial statements for the current year and looks to the future. The Foundation's Board of Directors has approved the 2026 accounts, but the artistic proposal for the upcoming season remains pending.

"We didn't discuss the artistic program; we focused exclusively on this year's budget, which is essentially covered by the opera season already planned by Lissner," said Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, president of the Foundation, as he left the Teatro Massimo in Naples at the end of the meeting.

The mayor confirmed the approval of the accounts, specifying that "we are now, of course, awaiting the superintendent's proposal for next season." This proposal won't arrive immediately: "The superintendent has reserved the right to present it later," Manfredi added.

The Teatro di San Carlo, therefore, is navigating sound economic waters thanks to the programming inherited from the previous Lissner management, while its new artistic direction remains to be defined. The wait to learn about the Massimo's future plans continues.

The theater's budget appears to be in order, but it's strange that they haven't discussed the artistic offering for next season. It would have been interesting to know what the future plans are for the San Carlo.
