The extraordinary checks implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug trafficking and possession continue to yield tangible results. Yesterday afternoon, officers made another arrest as part of the anti-drug operations that have been ongoing for weeks in the neighborhoods on the eastern outskirts of the city.
The blitz on Corso San Giovanni
The operation took place in broad daylight, when officers from the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station were passing by the corner of Corso San Giovanni and Piazza San Giovanni Battista. While patrolling, the officers noticed a man who immediately aroused suspicion. Upon seeing the uniforms, the 41-year-old Neapolitan showed clear signs of nervousness and impatience.
The search and seizure
The man's behavior didn't escape the investigators' attention, and they decided to proceed with a more thorough investigation. The search yielded a positive result: a package containing approximately 10 grams of cocaine was found on the suspect, sufficient to establish the possibility of drug trafficking.
The 41-year-old, already known to law enforcement for a drug-related criminal record, was immediately arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. He is now being held in judicial custody.

I agree with Nrossetti, but I think the situation is more complex than it seems. Drugs are a social problem, not just a police problem; we need to address it at a cultural level as well.
I think the police operation was important for the city's safety. However, it's strange that not enough is being done to prevent these crimes before they happen. We need to think about this.
