San Nicola la Strada – Two completely illegal mechanical workshops, without permits and operated in complete disregard of environmental regulations. This was discovered by the Carabinieri of the San Nicola la Strada station during a land survey operation conducted yesterday morning, February 27, 2026.

The raid in the basements

The military's operations, aimed at combating environmental crimes, focused on two basement premises located in the heart of the city center. Inside, the Carabinieri caught a 69-year-old and a 63-year-old man, both residents of the Caserta area, operating actual auto repair businesses.

The investigations revealed that the two men were operating completely clandestinely: they had no professional licenses and, even more seriously, no protocol for disposing of processing waste.

Environmental disaster narrowly avoided

The inspection revealed critical waste management: mechanical waste, used oil, and potentially toxic materials were being accumulated without the required precautions. This violation of current regulations resulted in the two managers being immediately remanded in custody, held jointly responsible for unauthorized waste management and hazardous waste dumping.

Seals and investigations underway

The operation concluded with the precautionary seizure of the two properties, covering a total area of approximately 250 square meters, and all the technical equipment found inside. The position of the two suspects is now being examined by the Judicial Authority, which will coordinate the next steps of the investigation to determine the extent of the environmental damage and the duration of the illegal activity.
