Santa Maria la Carità – A blaze clearly caused by arson shattered the quiet of late yesterday evening in Santa Maria la Carità. Carabinieri officers from the Sant'Antonio Abate station responded to a trucking company at number 108 of Via Pioppelle, where a semi-trailer had been engulfed in flames.
The fire and the damage
The fire completely destroyed the heavy vehicle's tractor unit, also significantly damaging part of the trailer. Military intervention made it possible to secure the area, but the damage to the company is extensive.
The investigations and the malicious lead
On site, the Carabinieri immediately began investigations to clarify the circumstances and, more importantly, the cause of the fire. At this time, no hypothesis has been ruled out, but there is a strong suspicion that it was an act of intimidation.
The position of the owner
However, after brief interviews, the owner of the trucking company told investigators that he had not received any threats or extortion requests, either in the past or recently. This complicates the investigation, but does not rule out other avenues, such as an indirect warning or a gesture related to circumstances yet to be clarified.
The hunt for the authors
To identify those responsible for the attack, the Carabinieri are currently combing through video surveillance footage in the area. Analysis of the footage, combined with technical investigations of the wreckage of the vehicle, will be crucial in identifying and motivating the arsonists and shedding light on what happened on the night of Santa Maria la Carità.

It's very strange that a fire could happen in a place like this; the safety of businesses and workers should be a priority. I wonder why there were no warnings before this devastating blaze.
