The pain of the mayor of Sarno
"Tonight our city was struck by a tragedy that leaves us speechless. The death of Gaetano Russo, a respected businessman, a well-known and well-liked man, is a profound wound for the entire community." This was the statement from Sarno's mayor, Francesco Squillante, regarding the murder of the 61-year-old baker, stabbed to death inside his business.
"In the face of such great pain," the mayor added, "words always seem insufficient and meaningless. All that remains is silence, our sincere sympathy for Gaetano's family, the embrace of an entire community mourning one of its sons today."
Squillante reiterates his "full confidence in the work of law enforcement, who are reconstructing what happened, and in the judiciary. "I hope the person responsible must be held accountable for his despicable actions and paid for them with full enforcement of the law and without retaliation," he concludes.

It's tragic that a person like Gaetano Russo died this way. I can't believe there are people capable of doing this. Violence should never be a solution; I hope justice is served.
