THE POISON SOLD IN LOT G

Scampia, bird feed in the Turkish Kobret sold in the square of 33

The latest investigation into the A33 drug trafficking ring in Scampia has revealed the secrets of the "chemistry of evil": how Mario Abbatiello transformed international shipments into thousands of lethal doses, multiplying his profits at the expense of drug addicts.

The investigation conducted by the Naples DDA and crystallized in the precautionary order that hit the leaders and workers of the "Piazza della 33" (Lot G of Scampia), is not just the story of a mass arrest.

It's a descent into an open-air laboratory where human life is worth less than the cost of a bag of feed. At the center of the investigation is Mario Abbatiello, the man who, according to investigators, held the keys to the drug "kitchen," specializing in the ruthless practice known in slang as "mischio."

The liturgy of the "Mischio": where the drugs double and the poison increases

In the more than 150-page precautionary order signed by investigating judge Lucia De Micco, at the request of prosecutors Luico Giugliano and Mariangela Magariello of the Naples Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), who last week arrested 25 people (three others under house arrest and three under investigation at large), the magistrates describe in detail how the drug dealing hub was not limited to mere sales, but was also a production and refining hub. The "mix" is not a random operation, but a true quasi-industrial procedure.

The wiretaps reveal how the pure substance, once it reached the logistics base, was subjected to a "cutting" process to increase its volume. "We need to see how much comes out," the suspects say in the intercepted conversations, referring to the yield of the substance after the addition of external agents. The goal is clear: from one kilogram of pure substance, at least two or three should be obtained, reducing costs and maximizing the profit on a single dose sold for 5 or 10 euros.

The "Wizard" of Kobret: The Türkiye-Scampia Route

The heart of the investigation, however, beats between pages 40 and 42, where the key role of Mario Abbatiello emerges. Not just a simple associate, but a logistics expert with international contacts. Abbatiello is identified as the person who managed the importation of Kobret (a highly toxic residue from heroin processing) directly from Turkey.

Turkish Kobret, already a "dirty" and devastating substance, became the basis for a criminal chemical experiment in Abbatiello's hands. The indictment emphasizes that he didn't just import, but was also responsible for "preparing" the goods for the Piazza 33.

“Mix it with feed”: The cynicism of counterfeiting

The most disturbing detail emerging from the wiretaps concerns the substance used for cutting. Abbatiello used bird feed to increase the volume of the Kobret and make it "marketable" to drug addicts in Lotto G.

The feed, finely ground to an imperceptible powder, was mixed with the Kobret. As the documents state, this practice served to give the powder a "body," maintaining a color similar to that of the original narcotic, but making the final mix a lethal cocktail of opium derivatives and agricultural waste.

In the reported conversations, the cynicism is total. The quality of the "mixture" is discussed as if it were a grocery store product: "This time the feed is good, you can't even feel it under your fingers," the suspects comment, boasting of Abbatiello's ability to make the final product indistinguishable to the desperate buyer.

Abbatiello's role: A chemical "broker"

Mario Abbatiello is described as an irreplaceable asset. His ability to manipulate the substance allowed the 33 drug market to never run out of supplies and ensure extremely high profit margins. While pure Kobret is expensive, the product "diluted" with canary feed allowed thousands of doses to be released onto the market at negligible cost to the clan, but at a very high human cost for those who consumed them.

The order highlights how Abbatiello was aware of the toxicity of what he was preparing, but the logic of profit prevailed over any scruples: "They sniff it and don't even realize it," emerges from the documents, testifying to his contempt for buyers, considered merely "numbers" in the market's turnover.

In a deregulated market like Scampia's, drug addicts never buy just drugs, but a "package" of unknown poisons. Abbatiello's "mix" isn't just a commercial fraud against the consumer, but a repeated attempted murder, perpetrated through the chemistry of savings.

The article reveals a worrying reality. The situation in Scampia is extremely dire, and Abbatiello's role appears to be central to it all. It's sad to think that human life is valued so little.
