Avellino. The Emergency Department of the San Giuseppe Moscati Hospital is strengthening its emergency department with 48 hours a month of medical directors from the Colli di Napoli AORN (Naples Hospital), thanks to a new agreement that will last until June 15.

The "Codice Argento" program for vulnerable seniors has also begun, and the delivery of the new 1.050-square-meter space is approaching, leading to the fully operational renovation of the facility by spring.

An agreement to strengthen the Emergency Department

The Avellino Emergency Department is preparing to welcome new human reinforcements in its emergency department. The Colli Hospital in Naples has signed an agreement with the San Giuseppe Moscati Hospital, providing 48 hours of support per month for four months, with medical directors assigned directly to the Avellino facility.

The agreement, which will remain in effect until June 15, will supplement the Emergency Department's staff, allowing for greater continuity of care during times of greatest pressure.

The statement from AORN Moscati emphasizes that the agreement represents a "concrete intervention" that demonstrates the ability of Campania's healthcare organizations to network and support one another to ensure more effective responses to citizens.

“Synergy between companies: teaming up”

Germano Perito, General Manager of San Giuseppe Moscati, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration. "I would like to thank Anna Iervolino, General Manager of the Colli Hospital, for accepting our request and for the sensitivity she demonstrated," he stated, "and Mario Guarino, Director of the Colli Emergency Medicine and Emergency Room Unit, who immediately offered to listen and collaborate."

According to Perito, "this agreement represents a virtuous example of synergy between companies: teaming up, sharing expertise and professionalism, and supporting each other during times of heightened healthcare pressure means strengthening the entire healthcare system and ensuring more effective responses to citizens."

The “Silver Code” journey begins

Regarding the organization of clinical pathways, the new "Silver Code" care pathway, dedicated to frail elderly patients accessing the Emergency Department, is nearing completion. The regulations, according to the manager, are now ready for approval and subsequent implementation during the operational phase.

"It is about to be approved," Perito specified, "allowing for the activation of a dedicated pathway, with greater clinical appropriateness and attention to frailty, in order to improve care, timing, and quality of care." The "Silver Code" aims to ensure faster and more targeted management of elderly people with complex conditions, reducing waiting lists and improving the quality of care.

Renovation work is accelerating

In parallel with the organizational changes, the renovation and expansion of the Avellino Emergency Department continues. The new space, approximately 1.050 square meters, will be completed shortly, adding to the existing space.

Alongside, the "old" Emergency Department is undergoing a complete renovation, adhering to the established schedule. The goal is to have the entire new space fully operational by spring and complete the work, expanding the reception, triage, observation, and treatment areas.

A structural and organizational strengthening

The sum of these interventions—from the arrival of new doctors from the Colli AORN, to the activation of the "Silver Code," to the completion of the new Emergency Department—is described by the company as a "set of structural and organizational measures" aimed at permanently and lastingly strengthening the emergency department's response capacity.

The goal, company executives explain, is to ensure citizens receive faster, more humane, and safer assistance, especially during peak times and times of crisis.

It's a good thing that the Avellino Emergency Department is receiving new doctors to improve care, but we hope the renovations are completed on time and don't cause inconvenience to patients who need treatment.
