The fire at the "jewel box of Via Chiaia" has left everyone shocked. The fire that destroyed the Sannazzaro Theater burned "a piece of Naples' history and identity." This is how Regional President Roberto Fico and Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi described it in a joint statement, announcing their full commitment to restoring the theater to its former glory.

"The fire at the Sannazaro Theater, which occurred in the early hours of the morning in the Chiaia neighborhood of Naples, saddens and dismays us. A piece of Naples' history and identity is burning, wounding everyone. We wish to express our deepest sympathy and solidarity with those involved, with the owner and artistic director of the theater, Lara Sansone, and with all the Sannazaro workers. Together with the City of Naples, we will do everything we can to return the theater to the city," said President Fico.
Mayor Manfredi expressed "great sorrow on behalf of the City Council and the entire City of Naples for this event, so painful for the Sansone family, the artists, and Neapolitan culture. We are ready to support the rebirth of the Teatro Sannazaro in any concrete way, together with the Region: we will not abandon them. And we are working for the evacuated families in the vicinity."
The closeness of the Campania Region's Culture Councilor
A feeling of deep sympathy was shared by Nini Cutaia, Campania Regional Councilor for Culture, who visited the scene: "We are closely monitoring the situation, which sees the Fire Brigade, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks, working for hours to contain the flames. Our sympathies go to all those affected by this painful event, with the hope that the damage to health and property is not serious."
From the world of associations, the Alessandro Scarlatti Association, with artistic director Tommaso Rossi, recalls that, precisely at the theater on Via Chiaia, "its season ticket season has been running for ten years, and so the memories and emotions of that period are countless." And from La Spezia, Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli promised his commitment to the reconstruction of the destroyed theater: "Speaking of traces of our immense creativity, Naples' small, great jewel will be restored to its former glory. The Minister of Culture said this in his speech to the City of La Spezia during the ceremony for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for Design, speaking about the fire that struck the Teatro Sannazaro.

The situation is truly serious, I can't believe this happened. Naples deserves to have its theater, and I hope the authorities do everything possible to repair the damage.
