Giugliano – In the early hours of today, officers from the Vicenza Flying Squad arrested a 49-year-old Italian man in Giugliano, Campania, accused of aggravated fraud. Last October, the man, along with an accomplice who is still at large and unidentified, showed up at a well-known stamp shop in downtown Vicenza, owned by a 94-year-old man.
Posing as law enforcement officers and displaying a fake badge, the two scammers managed to trick the victim. They convinced him to open the shop's safe, stealing numerous valuable ancient coins with an estimated value of €700.
The Flying Squad's investigations led to the identification and arrest of the 49-year-old, who will now have to answer for the serious predatory act against an elderly shopkeeper.
