Giugliano – Carabinieri from the Varcaturo station arrested a 36-year-old man, a resident of Qualiano and with no criminal record, on charges of possession and possession of counterfeit identity documents. The arrest was made following a search of the suspect's home.
The discovery: 61 identity cards, same photo, different data
Hidden in a desk drawer, officers found 61 counterfeit documents: 40 electronic ID cards and 21 paper ones. The element that immediately aroused investigators' suspicions was unmistakable: all the documents bore the same photograph, but each had different personal information, an ideal tool for assuming false identities.
Seizure and investigations into the supply chain
The material was entirely seized. Investigations are now focused on the documents' provenance, to trace the possible production or distribution network behind the 36-year-old's possession.
The man, with no criminal record, is currently under house arrest awaiting the validation hearing and subsequent trial.

It seems worrying that so many fake cards could be available; this shows weakness in administrative and bureaucratic controls. Systems should be improved, with more verification and cooperation between offices to prevent resale or illegal use, but compliance with the regulations is essential.
I think it's important to understand where these documents came from and how they were distributed. If there are so many documents, then there could be many victims, even if the man was perhaps not alone. The files should be checked and the people involved should be interviewed for clarification.
Interesting news, but I'm not sure everything is clear; 61 cards with the same photo but different information, it seems like a line, or a binder that falsified for evidence or to test people, I don't know. The arrest seems planned to me, but everything must be proven, the judge will say.
