Napoli – "I don't feel the weight of the blue jersey: I play for my people." Antonio Vergara spoke to Radio CRC, a partner station of SSC Napoli, revealing his personality and dedication to the blue colors. A strong bond with the fans, which for the young striker represents a decisive boost: "The fans really make the difference for us."
The emotion of the first goals
Vergara also recalls the most significant moments of his season, starting with his first goals. "Dedicating my first goal? I didn't think about it, I was just happy," he explains. He's referring to his first goal against Chelsea, which came as a surprise: "It was unexpected even for me. From the photos, you can see my face was in disbelief."
The second goal, scored against Fiorentina, had a different flavour: «I dedicate that to the whole stadium and to those who were there celebrating with me. It was even more beautiful because we won».
Zielinski's idols and example
When it comes to footballing role models, Vergara has no doubts: "My idol has always been Messi." But as he grew older, his attention also shifted to those who wore the same jersey as him: "When I trained with the Napoli first team, I always liked Piotr Zielinski. He was beautiful to watch: back-heeled passes followed by passes, it seemed like moves he knew by heart, yet he always managed to escape his opponents. A very strong player."
The role and work with Conte
As for his positioning on the pitch, the Neapolitan striker praises his versatility and spirit of sacrifice: "Over the years, I've always played in the attacking midfield; it's the position where I can express myself best. But I've also played as a midfielder, a winger, a winger: a bit of everything."
Finally, the daily work with Antonio Conte is crucial: "I definitely feel like I've improved training with him. We work so hard on the tactical side, really, really hard. The coach asks us to help each other, and I always try to do that: if he asks me to double up, I'll try."
Vergara's message is clear: availability, identity, and a deep connection with Naples and its people.

I agree with Ione. I think Vergara expresses himself well, but sometimes his words seem vague. It's important to have more information about his emotions during matches to better understand his attachment to the Azzurri.
The interview with Vergara is interesting, but there are many points that aren't clear. I noticed she talks about emotions but doesn't give details about how she actually feels on the court. Her dedication seems strong.
