Parete – A 62-year-old resident of the municipality was reported at large by the Carabinieri of the local station for abandonment and uncontrolled dumping of unsorted waste.
The incident emerged this afternoon, when the military concluded their investigations, initiated following repeated incidents reported this month. Thanks to the analysis of images recorded by public video surveillance systems installed in the area, the Carabinieri were able to precisely reconstruct the man's behavior: on four separate occasions, he dumped various types of waste right at the entrance to a private agricultural property, also located in the municipality of Parete.
This is a serial act that has transformed a border area between private property and the road into a veritable illegal micro-landfill. The case was reported to the judicial authorities for violation of environmental regulations that punish the uncontrolled abandonment of waste (Article 256 of the Consolidated Environmental Act).
At the same time, the Carabinieri informed the Mayor of the Municipality to urgently issue an order to remove and restore the site to its original state, charging the person responsible. Furthermore, a formal request has been submitted to the competent administrative authority to suspend the suspect's driving license, as the vehicle used to transport and unload the waste is considered an instrument of the crime.
Incidents like this, unfortunately recurring in the Land of Fires and surrounding areas, highlight the persistence of uncivilized behavior that damages agricultural land, creates health and landscape risks, and burdens the community with cleanup costs. The Carabinieri are continuing their investigation to determine possible complicity or further undocumented spills.

It's sad to see people abandoning waste without considering the consequences, but it's important that the authorities take action. We hope there's greater awareness of this issue and that citizens will respect the environment more.
