Pomigliano – The wave of violence that's turning Neapolitan weekends into a war zone continues unabated. Throughout Naples and its province, the "bad nightlife" continues to claim victims, marked by the reckless use of knives and blunt instruments.
The latest news story occurred at dawn in Pomigliano d'Arco, where two young people were injured and rushed to hospital.
Blood outside the premises
The Carabinieri Operations and Mobile Unit responded to the scene on Via dell'Aeronautica. At the scene, they found a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both victims of a brutal attack that occurred near a local bar.
The dynamics, still being examined by investigators, appear to follow the tragic pattern of fights over trivial matters: a glance too many or a misunderstood word that unleashes the fury of the pack.
Prediction guarded for a nineteen-year-old
The young man fared the worst: violently struck on the head with a glass bottle, he was rushed to Ospedale del Mare. Although doctors maintained a guarded prognosis due to the head trauma, the boy's life is not currently in danger.
The eighteen-year-old's condition is less serious, but no less disturbing. She was admitted to Nola hospital with a stab wound to her left buttock.
Investigations and hunt for those responsible
The detail that most worries investigators concerns the girl's wound: the blow apparently hit her from behind, a likely sign of an attack that occurred while she was trying to escape for safety.
The Carabinieri are combing through video surveillance footage in the area to identify the attackers. At the same time, they are interviewing witnesses and friends of the victims to reconstruct the precise moments leading up to the bloodshed.

It's sad to see all this; it seems like weekends are becoming a nightmare for many young people and families. The Carabinieri are doing what they can, but people don't understand and continue to argue over nothing. Let's hope the investigation finds the culprits and that the nightlife can be stopped.
