Gragnano – A new life in her womb and a knife pointed at her face. It's the night of terror experienced by a 34-year-old woman in Gragnano, the victim of yet another episode of domestic violence that took place within her own four walls.
According to the reconstruction, the man apparently refused to accept his partner's decision to end the relationship, which, according to the victim, was marked by constant insults and aggression. This decision apparently triggered the 34-year-old's fury.
The attack at home
It was just after 1:00 a.m. when the situation escalated. The woman was forced against the wall while her partner kicked her and threatened her with a butcher's knife.
In those dramatic moments, the 34-year-old – who had been pregnant for about two months – found herself with a hand wrapped around her neck, while the man continued to intimidate and insult her.
Kicked out of the house in my pajamas
After the attack, the man allegedly forced his partner to leave the house. The woman was kicked out in the middle of the night, still in her pajamas and slippers.
His personal belongings were thrown from the balcony: clothes and a suitcase, thrown into the street. Some items, however, were doused with alcohol and then set on fire.
The fire and the destroyed car
The burning clothes were thrown from the balcony and the flames ended up engulfing and destroying the car of a person completely unconnected to the incident.
The alarm was raised by calling 112 and the Carabinieri from the Gragnano station arrived on the scene within minutes.
The police detained the 34-year-old, who was arrested. He faces charges of domestic violence, aggravated threats, and criminal damage followed by arson.
Despite the violence she suffered, the woman did not suffer any injuries.

What a terrible story. I hope the woman is well and that justice does its job. It is important that law enforcement protects victims and that there are tools to prevent these incidents, but it also seems to me that the family context is complicated and many do not react.
