Naples – A 36-year-old man was stabbed in the leg while walking in broad daylight in the Vomero neighborhood. Initial reports suggest no apparent motive for the attack. The incident occurred on Via Salvator Rosa, one of the busiest and most central thoroughfares in the Neapolitan hills.
According to what the Carabinieri of the Vomero station, who responded promptly to the scene, have determined so far, the victim was walking when he was approached by two individuals on a scooter. One of the two, the driver, apparently pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the leg with a swift movement, before fleeing with his accomplice.
There were apparently no exchanges of words or requests for money: a lightning attack that left passers-by speechless.
The injured man was rescued and rushed to the nearby Cardarelli Hospital, where doctors treated his leg wound. His condition is not particularly concerning, so much so that the 36-year-old, after receiving initial treatment, signed a voluntary discharge, declining further tests and a period of observation.
Dynamics still to be clarified
The Carabinieri are now working to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and identify the two attackers. They are examining images from surveillance cameras on Via Salvator Rosa and surrounding streets, as well as testimonies from any passersby who may have witnessed the incident.
No avenues have been ruled out at this time: from a settling of scores to the actions of thugs looking for an easy hit, to a possible case of mistaken identity. The incident once again highlights the safety of the streets of Vomero, a neighborhood traditionally considered quiet but not immune—like other areas of Naples—to sudden episodes of violence. The investigation is continuing with the utmost discretion to identify those responsible.

It's worrying that something like this happened in broad daylight in the Vomero neighborhood. Many passersby were left speechless, and the Carabinieri are still trying to piece together the dynamics. It's unclear whether this was a settling of scores, mistaken identity, or just plain pranks. We hope they'll shed light on the situation soon. Witnesses don't talk much, and perhaps the cameras will help.
