Carabinieri from the Naples Pianura station executed a concurrent sentence determination order—an order of execution for imprisonment—issued by the Attorney General's Office at the Naples Court of Appeal, Criminal Enforcement Office, against a Neapolitan man born in 1986.
The man, who was already under house arrest in the Pianura neighborhood for another judicial matter, will now have to serve a residual sentence of 10 years and 6 months in prison.
Convictions for robbery, extortion and weapons
The prison sentences stem from final convictions for various crimes committed in Naples since 2007. These include robbery, escape, aggravated personal injury, illegal possession of firearms, and attempted extortion in conspiracy aggravated by the so-called "mafia method."
According to investigations, the man also appears to be connected to a clan operating between the Vomero and Arenella neighborhoods.
The escape attempt and the tracking
When officers arrived to serve the order, the 39-year-old had left his home a few minutes earlier, attempting to evade capture. A search by the Carabinieri of the Pianura station, however, led to his identification and arrest shortly thereafter.
Drugs found in girlfriend's car
During the operation, officers also searched the car used by the man's live-in partner. Inside the vehicle, they found six blocks of hashish weighing approximately 600 grams and a bag containing 234 grams of marijuana.
For this reason, both were reported at liberty for possession of narcotics with intent to deal.
Cash, packaging material and cameras
The subsequent house search led to the discovery of €840 in cash, believed to be the presumed proceeds of drug dealing, as well as drug packaging materials.
Outside the residence, the Carabinieri also located four video surveillance cameras positioned to monitor the access routes to the apartment. All the material has been seized.
New charge of tax evasion
The 39-year-old was eventually also charged with escape, having abandoned the home where he was held under house arrest in an attempt to avoid capture.
After completing the formal procedures, the man was transferred to the Secondigliano prison in Naples, where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
