Naples – A massive extraordinary territorial control operation swept through the Porta Nolana area and surrounding areas yesterday morning. The Naples Police Headquarters coordinated the operation, deploying officers from the Vicaria-Mercato and Montecalvario police stations with the support of the Naples Mobile Unit, members of the Guardia di Finanza and the Italian Army, as well as personnel from the ASIA (Italian National Security Agency).

Illegal souks under scrutiny

The operation focused on Corso Garibaldi and Via Nolana, Via Marvasi, and Via Caracciolo di Bella, thoroughfares long plagued by the presence of illegal street markets. During the checks, officers identified 34 people—five of whom had criminal records—and inspected nine vehicles.

Sixteen quintals of goods disposed of

The operation's outcome was significant: officers seized approximately 16 kilograms of various goods, which were disposed of on-site using a compactor provided by ASIA. The operation concluded with the complete restoration of the site, returning public spaces that had previously been illegally occupied to the public.
