Naples - Following the high-profile murder of Salvatore De Marco, nephew of Villa district mafia boss Ciro Rinaldi, the Carabinieri carried out a series of targeted checks throughout eastern Naples.
In the Conocal neighborhood of Ponticelli, the police seized 15 bullets hidden in a wall in a condominium building. This is a clear sign of the high tension in the criminal circles in that area.
Overall, 76 people were identified during the checks, including 25 with criminal records, and 42 vehicles were checked. 14 fines were also issued for traffic violations.
The checks, the Carabinieri announced, will continue in the next few hours.
