A routine evening of patrols turned into a night of unprecedented violence in Arzano. The operation, conducted by Carabinieri officers from the local station and officers from the Casoria Company engaged in a wide-ranging operation, resulted in a devastating outcome: five people were arrested and two officers were taken to the emergency room.
The egg trick and the brutal attack
It all began around 20:00 PM, when a patrol set up a checkpoint on Via Napoli. The officers ordered a Fiat Panda carrying a young couple to stop: a 28-year-old man from Melito, and a 23-year-old woman from Arzano.
The two hand over their documents, but during the identification process, the atmosphere becomes tense. The 28-year-old, believing he's not being seen, attempts to get rid of a plastic container—the classic Kinder surprise egg, often used to conceal drugs—by throwing it out of the car.
The movement doesn't go unnoticed by one of the Carabinieri, who bends down to retrieve the package containing several doses of hashish. It is at that moment that violence erupts: the 28-year-old lunges at the officer, punching him in the face with a flurry of punches.
The other Carabiniere immediately intervenes to help his colleague, but is himself attacked by the 23-year-old, who doesn't hesitate to stick her finger in his eye. Taking advantage of the momentary daze in their uniforms, the pair shifts into gear and makes a daring escape.
The raid at their home and the entire family in handcuffs
The search plan was immediately launched. The surveillance system deployed by the Carabinieri was diverted to the trail of the two fugitives. The Carabinieri arrived without fail at the 23-year-old's home in Arzano.
There is no trace of the boyfriend, but the house search reveals the real reason for such haste to escape detection.
In the apartment, officers found 72 grams of hashish, €320 in cash believed to be the proceeds of illicit activity, and various materials used to package the doses. In addition to the young fugitive, her mother, father, and brother were also present. Faced with evidence of the drugs, the entire family was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The 23-year-old will also face charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a public official.
The violent surrender in the night
The search for the 28-year-old from Melito continued relentlessly for hours, culminating in an equally surreal conclusion. Around 2:00 a.m., feeling hunted, the man decided to report voluntarily to the Arzano police station.
However, instead of surrendering peacefully, he again went berserk: first he railed and threatened the Carabinieri on guard duty, then he once again resorted to violence, attacking them. He was finally immobilized and placed under arrest.
The two Carabinieri injured during the first clash on Via Napoli required emergency medical assistance. They were taken by ambulance to the emergency room of the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Frattamaggiore, where they were treated and discharged at dawn. They received a prognosis of 20 and 6 days, respectively, for blunt trauma and injuries sustained in the line of duty.

An evening of patrols that degenerated. The Carabinieri did their duty, but things went awry. The couple escaped from the patrol, then showed up at the station and began the violence again. Drugs and money were found in the house. The entire family was arrested, and many doubts remain.
