Arzano – The climate of tension in Arzano following the murder of Armando Lupoli, killed late Saturday afternoon in a clearly criminal ambush, is being felt primarily on social media.
Friends and family members of the victim are remembering Lupoli with dozens of messages and photos posted online. Among the posts, however, are also angry phrases and explicit references to revenge. These words immediately caught the attention of investigators.
Precisely for this reason, several social media profiles are now being monitored by law enforcement, fearing that the crime could generate new tensions or retaliation in criminal circles in the northern Naples area.
The police investigations
Meanwhile, the Carabinieri investigation continues unabated. Investigators from the Casoria, Castello di Cisterna, Casavatore, and Arzano companies are reconstructing every detail of the ambush and are not ruling out any leads.
According to an initial reconstruction, Lupoli was followed for hours before being reached by the killers.
The ambush on Via Mazzini
The murder took place on Via Mazzini, where the hitmen opened fire while the man was in the car with his wife.
Five gunshots were fired, hitting Lupoli in the face and chest. The woman sitting next to him was miraculously unharmed despite the hail of bullets.
After overcoming the initial shock, she was questioned at length by investigators, but she did not provide any useful information to identify those responsible for the ambush.
The escape attempt and the crash
According to initial investigations, Lupoli did not die immediately after being shot.
Injured, he attempted a desperate escape, accelerating the car to get away from the gunmen. However, the drive ended shortly afterward: the vehicle rear-ended several parked cars before crashing into a gate and a lamppost, where the man died.
The trap hypothesis
Investigators believe it's likely that Lupoli was lured into a trap. The warheads found at the scene were found within a few meters of each other, indicating that the shots were fired at close range and in rapid succession.
The fact that his wife was not hit would strengthen the hypothesis of a targeted ambush, with Lupoli as the hitmen's only target.
Criminal balances in the northern area
According to some reports, criminals believed to be close to the Ferone and Amato-Pagano clans, active between Arzano and Casavatore, were also spotted at the scene of the ambush.
Recent news events demonstrate how the Camorra's balance of power in northern Naples is increasingly unstable. Following last year's high-profile arrests targeting the leaders of the Amato group, control of the area has apparently gradually shifted to men and affiliates close to boss Cesare Pagano, who have been released in recent years.
The drug dealing areas between Arzano and Casavatore
In Casavatore, after the arrest of the alleged regent Salvatore Ferone, control of the territory passed into the hands of a man believed to be close to the Paganos.
Meanwhile, several drug dealing centers remain active, considered among the main sources of income for local criminal gangs: not only in Piazza 30 Luglio, but also in Via Palizzi, the street where the victim lived.

It seems tragic to me, but we need to stay calm and not rush to judgment. There are too many angry messages and references to revenge on social media, which then create confusion and risk causing panic. Law enforcement is trying to piece together everything, but the posts are misleading and slowing things down. The investigation deserves respect and more caution.
