NAPLES – Bills continue to weigh heavily on families in Campania. In 2025, the average cost of electricity and gas per household reached €1.688 for residential customers with indexed-rate free market supplies. This figure is only slightly lower than in 2024, but significantly higher than in the past: in 2018, the total cost was just over €1.100.

Gas had the greatest impact on household budgets. According to an analysis by Facile.it, in 2025, the average natural gas bill in Campania reached €952, while residents spent an average of €736 on electricity.

Experts urge consumers not to let their guard down. "The scenario unfolding these days following the outbreak of the conflict in Iran will inevitably lead to an increase in the price of raw materials," they explain. "For this reason, we advise consumers not to let their guard down, as prices are volatile, and if sudden increases occur, those on variable rates could see their bills skyrocket." They also offer a piece of advice to consumers: "Periodically comparing your offer with those on the market to ensure it remains advantageous, and if not, looking for a new supplier is the best way to protect yourself from price increases."

The analysis was conducted by examining the consumption declared by over 64 households in Campania and highlighted significant differences between the region's provinces. The highest electricity costs were recorded in the province of Caserta, where, with an average annual consumption of 2.423 kWh, the average bill reached €747. Naples followed closely behind with €746 and average consumption of 2.421 kWh, while Salerno stood at €720 and 2.314 kWh. Costs were lower in the provinces of Benevento, where the average was €697 for 2.218 kWh, and Avellino, which brought up the regional rankings with €692 and average consumption of 2.196 kWh.

The rankings change completely when it comes to gas. In this case, the most expensive province is Avellino, where families spent an average of €1.209 on consumption of 873 Smc. Benevento follows with €1.127 and Salerno with €1.057. Bills were lower in the Naples area, where the average cost was €879 on consumption of 608 Smc, and in the Caserta area, where the average was €950 for 665 Smc.
