To determine whether there are attempts by organized crime to infiltrate the municipal administration. With this objective, the prefect of Naples, Michele of Bari, on behalf of the Minister of the Interior, has ordered the establishment of an investigative commission at the Municipality of Sorrento.
The measure calls for an inspection of the local government offices to determine whether organized crime may be involved in or influence over the administrative activities of the coastal town. The commission in charge will be responsible for analyzing the administration's documents, procedures, and reports to determine whether the Camorra has been involved.
The investigation will initially last three months. This period may be extended once, for an additional three months, if the investigation requires further investigation. This decision falls within the framework of the anti-mafia legislation that allows the Ministry of the Interior, through the prefectures, to intervene when signs or suspicions of possible organized crime influence emerge within local authorities.
The purpose of the inspection is to gather evidence to determine whether administrative action has been influenced in any way or whether, conversely, there are no irregularities. Upon completion of the investigation, the commission will submit a report to the prefect, who, based on the findings, may propose any further measures to the government.

It seems to me that the initiative is necessary, but it is not yet clear how the checks should be carried out and which offices will actually be inspected. The timeframe is too short, and the commission should analyze the documents more thoroughly. However, information is lacking, and the public remains uncertain and confused. It is not certain that concrete evidence will be found.
