Raffaele Cantone is increasingly close to leading the Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office. The Fifth Commission of the Superior Council of the Judiciary has unanimously voted to propose to the plenum the appointment of the current Perugia prosecutor as the new head of the Salerno judicial office.
The decision, which was passed without a vote, represents a significant step in the process leading to the final decision, now entrusted to the plenary assembly of the CSM. Cantone, a longtime magistrate and a figure also known for his past leadership of the National Anti-Corruption Authority, is considered one of the most authoritative figures in the Italian judiciary.
At the same meeting, the Commission also unanimously approved a series of other nominations for various judicial offices across the country. These include Mario Conte as president of the criminal section of the Court of Termini Imerese, Aldo De Negri as president of the criminal section of the Court of Palermo, Ida Cubicciotti as head of a civil section of the Court of Lecce, Alessandra Vella as president of the criminal section of the Court of Agrigento, and Piera De Stefani as president of the criminal section of the Court of Treviso.
The Commission also approved the reassignment of Gabriele Mazzotta, deputy prosecutor of Florence. The vote on the proposal for the Trento Prosecutor's Office was more divided: three votes went to Alessandra Cerreti and three to Claudia Danelon, a sign of a balance that will be resolved in the next stages of the procedure.
