A temporary solution to safeguard jobs while the issue of reopening the facility remains unresolved. The workers employed in the cleaning service at the Caserta Swimming Stadium will be temporarily transferred to other facilities in the Province, following the pool's closure in March 2025 due to the lack of a fire safety certificate.

The announcement came from the President of the Province of Caserta, Anacleto Colombiano, during the meeting of the Permanent Technical Committee established in recent weeks to monitor the employment situation related to the closure of the sports facility on Via Laviano.

According to the provincial agency, the workers will be temporarily employed in other facilities previously managed by Agis, the provincial agency that until last year was responsible for managing sports facilities and high school gyms and was subsequently abolished.

The Colombian president spoke of a first concrete step toward addressing the issue. He recalled that the administration had pledged its commitment to finding a solution from the outset, but emphasized that the technical and bureaucratic timeframes required to ensure a legally sound process often clash with the immediate needs of workers.

However, the main issue remains: the closure of the Swimming Stadium, one of the most important sports facilities in the area, in a city already suffering from a lack of public swimming pools, given that even the municipal one has been unused for years.

For hundreds of users, including many children with disabilities or mobility issues who regularly attended the facility, the closure was a severe blow. For this very reason, the Province has initiated the process to restore the facility to full functionality.

A conference of services convened by the provincial authority was held in recent days to examine and approve the technical and economic feasibility study for the redevelopment of the Swimming Stadium. The process involves the relevant administrations and bodies, who are called upon to express their opinions on the project.
