Naples – Extraordinary checks are being carried out in the city's nightlife areas. Yesterday evening, the Naples Police Headquarters deployed a targeted patrol and checkpoint in the San Ferdinando neighborhood, with particular attention to the area known as the "baretti" (small bars) of Chiaia and the surrounding streets.
The operation involved State Police officers from the San Ferdinando and Scampia police stations, personnel from the Administrative and Social Police Division, along with members of the Guardia di Finanza, Local Police officers, and officials from the ASL Napoli 1.
58 people identified and 21 premises checked
During the check, a total of 58 people were identified, four of whom had criminal records. At the same time, 21 businesses located in the nightlife area were inspected.
During the inspections, the operators found several administrative and structural irregularities, challenging the owners for some non-conformities deemed significant.
Reports for safety violations and fines for noise
The operation concluded with the referral to the judicial authorities of the owner of a commercial establishment, who was reported for non-compliance with safety regulations.
Two other venues were fined for failure to comply with noise regulations, as part of inspections carried out to ensure compliance with the rules in the city's nightlife areas.

It seems the checks have been carried out, but too many doubts remain about how the results are being handled: 58 people identified, 21 establishments inspected, one owner reported, and two establishments fined for noise. In the city's nightlife and in the bar district, everything seems confusing; there needs to be more clarity and accountability from those who perhaps aren't coordinating well. I don't know if the fines and reports serve to improve the nightlife or just create problems for the business owners, but communication between the police and the business owners seems insufficient.
