Social networks, e-commerce, and influencers: tools capable of reaching thousands of potential customers worldwide in seconds. But that same speed can backfire when there's something illicit behind a sale.
This is what happened in Naples, where a 27-year-old woman, browsing Instagram for designer bags, came across an ad posted on the social media profile of a well-known vintage shop in Chiaia.
The influencer, followed by tens of thousands of users, had put some designer accessories up for sale. Among the images, however, the young woman immediately recognized some models: they were her bags.
The suspicion about the boyfriend
In the girl's mind, suspicion immediately focuses on just one person: her partner, a 28-year-old.
The young woman contacts him and suggests they go to the shop on Via Morelli together to clarify the situation. However, the man refuses to accompany her.
At that point, the 27-year-old decides to go to the store anyway, together with her father and brother.
The inspection at the Chiaia shop
The owner of the vintage shop welcomed them and showed them the bags for sale. The accessories appeared to match those reported missing by the girl in mid-February.
The family then contacted the Carabinieri of the Naples Mobile Radio Unit, who intervened on the scene to reconstruct the incident.
The receipts and the seller's document
During the investigations, the purchase receipts issued by the shop emerged, accompanied by photocopies of the sellers' identity documents.
For the four bags reported by the 27-year-old, only one document appears: that of her 28-year-old boyfriend. The sale would have netted the man approximately €4.
The attempt to block the sale
According to the military's reconstruction, once contacted by his girlfriend, the 28-year-old allegedly called the shop owner and asked him to remove the bags from sale.
An attempt that came too late, however.
Seizure and denunciation
The bags were seized by the Carabinieri. The shop owner was found to have no involvement in the incident, while the 28-year-old was reported.
As for the romantic relationship between the two protagonists of the story, it cannot be ruled out that the love story has reached the end of the line.

I read the article and it seems strange to me; I can't say much. Perhaps the boyfriend sold things that weren't actually his, and the shop seems legitimate, but the paperwork is confusing and unclear. The family reacted appropriately, but perhaps it would have been better to talk to the boyfriend or the police first, but it's too late now.
