Sessa Aurunca – A suspicious pipe, likely linked to illegal wastewater discharges, was discovered and seized on the public beach in Levagnole, on the border between the municipalities of Sessa Aurunca and Mondragone, on the Litorale Domizio.
The intervention began in recent days following the appearance of the pipe on the shoreline, made evident by the recent storm surges that brought a significant portion of it to light.
A coordinated operation immediately took place on site, involving the Caserta Provincial Police, the Mondragone Coast Guard, the Sessa Aurunca Municipal Police, technicians from Arpac Campania, and the Municipality's Environmental Department.
Investigations underway to trace the source of the pollution
The operation, ordered by the judicial authorities, is part of a broader plan of intensified environmental controls by the Province of Caserta on the Domitian coast, at the specific direction of President Anacleto Colombiano.
During the inspection, water samples were taken and technical checks were carried out to determine the nature and origin of any spills. The pipeline is currently under seizure.
We are awaiting the results of the ARPAC analyses to determine whether this is indeed an illegal discharge of sewage or other effluent, and to identify those responsible for the illegal connection.
Risk to bathing and the marine environment
The pipe is located right in the middle of a stretch of public beach, popular with tourists and residents during the summer months. The presence of an unauthorized discharge directly into the sea poses a serious threat to the quality of bathing water and the ecosystem of the Gulf of Gaeta. The criminal charges under investigation by the judiciary include:
illegal discharge of wastewater into the marine environment
abandonment and uncontrolled deposit of waste on the ground and in water
further violations provided for by the Consolidated Environmental Law (Legislative Decree 152/2006)
Once the investigation is complete, the pipe will be removed to eliminate the risk of pollution. This incident re-emphasizes the need for constant and stringent monitoring along the entire Litorale Domizio, which has been facing environmental issues related to illegal discharges, inadequate sewage treatment, and unauthorized construction for years.

I read the article and it seems serious but also confusing. The pipe was discovered but then it was discovered on the sand, the technicians took samples but it's not clear who is in charge. The free beach remains at risk, people are demanding answers and for everything to be quickly removed.
The pipeline discovered in Levagnole appears serious, but it's unclear where it's coming from. Arpac Campania technicians have been on site, but sampling is rare; the results are late. More checks should be done, but responsibilities aren't immediately identified. The pollution problem remains, and people want to swim safely, but right now the situation is uncertain.
