The Naples Carabinieri Forestry Corps continues its operations to combat environmental crimes and protect the land. Two operations conducted by the Roccarainola Carabinieri Forestry Corps resulted in seizures and reports in the municipalities of Poggiomarino and Roccarainola.
In their first intervention, the military deployed in the Poggiomarino countryside, where they seized a facility used as a mechanical workshop, which was completely unlicensed. Several environmental violations were discovered within the facility, including the uncontrolled storage of special waste, including hazardous waste, as well as the presence of air emissions and water discharges without the required permits.
During the inspection, other significant findings emerged. The Forestry Carabinieri found two cars with altered chassis, which led to suspicions of receiving stolen goods, as well as work tools previously seized. For these reasons, a 65-year-old man living in the area was reported to the judicial authorities on charges ranging from receiving stolen goods to breaking seals, and violations under Legislative Decree 152 of 2006, the Consolidated Environmental Act. In addition to the premises, the two vehicles and the equipment used in the illegal activity were also seized.
The second operation took place in the Roccarainola countryside, in the Cupa area, where several residents had reported gunshots. Upon responding to the scene, the Carabinieri Forestry Corps discovered a clay pigeon shooting range in full operation. The facility, consisting of two structures containing clay pigeon launching devices, however, was found to be completely lacking the necessary permits.
Faced with the situation they encountered, the military proceeded to seize the entire facility. A 57-year-old local man, the tenant of the area and responsible for the construction of the facility, was reported to the judicial authorities for illegal construction and for installing a sports facility without the required permits.

It's important that the Carabinieri intervene; the situation needs to be controlled; however, there appears to be a lack of prevention and clarifications regarding responsibility. Premises and vehicles are seized, but how is the hazardous material disposed of? Will the community remain informed or will it be left in the dark?
