Grumo Nevano – A night of routine madness on Corso Garibaldi ended with a 39-year-old local man arrested for brutally attacking his eighty-year-old father and his 35-year-old wife.
The man, whose violent behavior was already known to law enforcement due to previous complaints, attempted a desperate escape before being discovered in an unusual hiding place.
The attack and the escape on the rooftops
The alarm was raised following an anonymous report to 112. Upon their arrival at the apartment, the Carabinieri from the Grumo Nevano station found themselves faced with a scene of domestic violence.
The 39-year-old, sensing his imminent arrest when the intercom rang, didn't hesitate to flee: once he reached the exit, he began running across the rooftops of the working-class neighborhood, trying to disappear among the buildings in the area.
The mystery of the broken elevator
As reinforcements surrounded the area, a meticulous floor-by-floor search began. The breakthrough came from a seemingly trivial detail: during the checks, the soldiers noticed that one of the complex's elevators was jammed.
The lack of maintenance signs or fault reports immediately aroused the suspicions of the Carabinieri, who decided to inspect the technical compartment.
The capture in the technical compartment
Despite the risks associated with the hydraulic and traction systems, the Carabinieri opened the door and discovered the fugitive huddled in a narrow space measuring just 140 x 160 centimeters. After being removed from his hiding place and secured, the 39-year-old was transferred to prison. The victims, a father and wife, were taken to the hospital for treatment, while the attacker will now face charges of mistreatment and assault.

It seems like a strange and worrying situation to me, but I don't understand how the neighbors didn't see the signs much earlier. The man reported was known, but the authorities didn't investigate thoroughly. The story seems confusing, and precise information on how and why is lacking.
