AGROPOLI – The Salerno Flying Squad and investigators from the Central Operations Service (SCO) today executed a European arrest warrant issued by Romania against a 45-year-old Romanian man sentenced to 10 years and 8 months for sexual acts with a minor and assault on a public official.
Four years ago, the man allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl on two occasions and, during a police stop, injured an officer. The arrest follows an investigation—conducted by officers in collaboration with Romanian police authorities and the Romanian Liaison Officer in Italy—which led to the wanted man's location in a home in Moio, Agropoli, in the Salerno area.
In the town on the outskirts of Cilento, the foreigner had been living with a 46-year-old compatriot and the woman's three children since last year. The 45-year-old was taken to the Salerno-Fuorni prison, where he is being held by the Court of Appeal.

It seems like a serious but also somewhat confusing situation. The authorities have done their job, but too many questions remain: why did the 45-year-old live so close to the family of his compatriot? The Romanian-Italian cooperation agency has located the man, but the details of his relationship with the minor are not well explained; the domestic context seems poorly described and unclear.
