A marble processing company in Santa Maria la Carità was seized as part of investigations into pollution of the Sarno River. The action was carried out by officers from the Sarno Emergency Unit of the Naples Metropolitan Police, acting on orders from the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigations, the company was releasing dust produced during marble processing into the atmosphere without the required regional authorization for air emissions. The inspections are part of a broader investigation plan launched to identify and eliminate potential sources of pollution affecting the Sarno basin, one of the most monitored rivers in Campania due to its critical environmental issues.
The seals were placed on the sole proprietorship Montuori Luigi, headquartered in Santa Maria la Carità. In addition to the industrial warehouse, which covers an area of approximately 240 square meters, the equipment used for processing the marble was also seized. Investigations are continuing to determine any liability and assess the environmental impact of the emissions produced by the business.
