Mario Ruoso, longtime owner of TelePordenone, was bludgeoned to death at his home.

The 87-year-old founder of the local station was found dead in his attic by his nephew. Investigators are calling it a "massacre": the elderly man was repeatedly struck on the head with a blunt object, possibly a crowbar, between 7 and 8 a.m., as he was getting ready to go out. A thorough investigation is underway, and surveillance cameras in the area are being examined.

A brutal murder, committed in the early hours of the morning inside his own apartment. This is how Mario Ruoso, 87, a well-known Pordenone entrepreneur and historic founder of the TelePordenone broadcaster, lost his life.

His lifeless body was found this afternoon inside the seventh-floor penthouse where he lived, located directly across from the car dealership he owned.

The attack at dawn

According to initial investigations, the murder occurred within a relatively short time frame, presumably between 7 and 8 a.m. A chilling detail emerged from the very first moments: Ruoso was already fully dressed and ready to go out, a habit he maintained daily, visiting his car dealership despite his advanced age.

The dynamics outlined by investigators suggest a sudden and ferocious attack. The elderly man was apparently stunned by an initial blow delivered with a blunt, smooth object, likely a crowbar or similar tool. As he fell, he violently struck his head against the edge of a piece of furniture. At that point, the killer attacked with unprecedented violence, repeatedly striking him on the head until he died.

A gruesome scene

Those who responded to the scene described the scene in one unequivocal word: "slaughter." The alarm was raised by the businessman's nephew who, unable to reach his uncle by phone, decided to go to the attic in person, where he made the grisly discovery.

The investigation, which began around 4:30 PM, lasted over three hours and involved coroner Antonello Cirnelli and Forensic Police officers, supported by colleagues from Padua. Prosecutor Pietro Montrone confirmed that the death occurred several hours before the body was found.

Hunt for the murder weapon and analysis of the security cameras

The weapon used in the brutal beating was not found, despite thorough searches both inside the home and in the surrounding areas. The time of the crime may have facilitated the killer's escape, as he may have acted at a time when the area was less crowded.

At this time, there are no eyewitnesses. The investigation, coordinated by Prosecutor Montrone and Deputy Prosecutor Federica Urban, is focusing on acquiring and analyzing footage from public and private video surveillance cameras in the area, hoping to identify suspicious movements that could be traced back to the attacker.

Interviews with the businessman's neighbors and associates are also underway, although, so far, no decisive evidence has emerged that would lead to a breakthrough in the investigation. Investigators are maintaining the utmost confidentiality regarding the investigation and, at this time, state that they are not ruling out any leads regarding the motive for a murder that has profoundly shocked the Pordenone community.
