The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, released a statement regarding the two murders in Marano and Arzano yesterday. "The Carabinieri, coordinated by the judicial authorities, are currently investigating to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the events and identify those responsible," he said, emphasizing that "the State does not retreat in the face of criminal violence."
"We have full confidence in the work of the judiciary and the Carabinieri, who are working with the utmost determination to shed light on what happened. The institutions remain extremely vigilant," Di Bari added.
Strengthening controls in the hinterland
The prefect also announced a significant strengthening of prevention and control measures in the area. "Law enforcement and surveillance services will be intensified in the hinterland north of Naples to ensure the safety of citizens and to firmly combat all forms of crime," he specified.
The Prefecture is preparing to analyze the evolving situation in close collaboration with the police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, and judicial authorities. The incidents in Marano and Arzano will be thoroughly examined at the next Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety.

I understand the Prefect's message, but doubts remain about how the investigations are being conducted and who is responsible. People are waiting for answers, but increased controls don't always bring security. The Carabinieri and the judiciary should act better.
