Naples – The spiral of violence that has gripped the city this dramatic weekend continues unabated. The latest war report comes from the beating heart of the Spanish Quarter, where blood once again stained the cobblestones of Piazzetta Montecalvario last night. A 30-year-old man was stabbed several times and is now hospitalized in critical condition.
The attack under the lights of the square
It all happened in the dead of night, amidst the screams of those present and a general stampede. According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, the thirty-year-old was involved in a violent argument that broke out near a local business. Words quickly gave way to action, until a blade emerged and struck the man with surgical precision and blind violence.
Race against time at Pellegrini
The injured man's condition immediately appeared critical to emergency responders. He was rushed to the nearby Vecchio Pellegrini hospital, where he was admitted with a red code. Doctors are not giving a definitive prognosis: the thirty-year-old's life is currently in danger and is being constantly monitored in the intensive care unit.
Full-scale investigations
Officers from the Dante and Decumani police stations responded to the scene. State Police officers cordoned off the area where the victim was injured, searching for biological traces and surveillance footage, which may have captured the heated moments of the brawl or the attackers' escape.
The episode represents only the latest chapter in a dark weekend for urban safety, marked by constant tension that continues to result in tragedy on the streets of nightlife.

Reading the article, it seems very sad and worrying to me, but we shouldn't rush to judgment without knowing all the facts. The city seems increasingly unsafe, controls aren't working, the police are having difficulty, and nightlife seems out of control. I hope the trentene will be saved and that the culprits are caught quickly.
