Carabinieri from the Napoli Poggioreale company intervened at the 10th Cerimant barracks on Corso Malta following a report received by 112. The alarm was raised by the soldier in charge of security, who had noticed the unusual presence of a drone stuck on the roof of the building.
The load attached to the drone
The aircraft was carrying a small bag, tied with nylon thread. Inside, the officers found a mini cell phone and a smartphone, presumably intended for smuggling into the detention area. The drone and the devices were immediately seized.
A growing phenomenon
This is not an isolated incident. This is the second attempted "aerial delivery" in the space of a few days in the Poggioreale prison area. In a similar recent incident, another drone crashed and became stuck in a tree at the Salesian Institute. On that occasion, the cargo was much larger, including drugs, cell phones, and SIM cards.
Investigators are now working to identify those responsible and clarify the methods and organizational network behind these attempts, which confirm the increasingly frequent use of drones to circumvent security and introduce prohibited material into prison facilities.

It seems to me to be a serious matter but not one to be overly scandalized about. The Carabinieri did well to intervene, however it must be highlighted that drones are now being used to transport prohibited goods and surveillance and control measures must be stronger, with more attention paid to roofs and nearby areas.
