He failed to stop at a checkpoint on Via Mastellone and attempted to evade the officers. He was stopped after the chase. He was arrested for "dangerous flight," one of the first applications of the new law that went into effect with the February decree.
Control and escape
He failed to stop at the Carabinieri's stop and attempted to flee, endangering public safety. A 33-year-old Neapolitan man was arrested and charged with "dangerous flight," a new crime punishing anyone who evades police control by engaging in conduct that endangers the safety of others.
The incident occurred this morning, Friday, March 6, on Via Mastellone, in the Barra neighborhood in eastern Naples. Upon seeing the officers, the man did not stop at the checkpoint and attempted to run away, but was caught and apprehended shortly thereafter by the Carabinieri.
The new accusation
The 33-year-old was thus arrested for "dangerous escape," a recently introduced crime that became effective following the February 24 decree. The law provides for the possibility of imprisonment for anyone who, in an attempt to evade a check, engages in conduct that exposes others to danger.
This is one of the first arrests carried out in Italy under the new provision, which is set to significantly impact incidents of failure to stop at checkpoints.
The money found on him
At the time of the check, the 33-year-old was in possession of €2860 in cash. This item was seized by investigators during the investigations following the arrest. The arrest was validated by the judicial authorities.

The situation didn't seem so clear to me, the driver didn't stop and then the police stopped him, the arrest seemed justified but with 2860 euros on him it's strange, perhaps confusion and new rules that many people don't yet fully understand.
