Naples – A Saturday night turned into a nightmare for a woman in the Vasto neighborhood, but it ended happily thanks to the timely intervention of law enforcement.
Last night, the State Police arrested a 35-year-old man from the Caserta area, accused of robbing a female acquaintance.
The assault and the cry for help
It all began on Via Bologna, where officers from the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station were carrying out their routine patrols. While patrolling, they were drawn to the scene by the screams of a woman, visibly shaken and in shock.
The victim reported being attacked by a man she knew, who violently stole her bag before disappearing into the surrounding streets.
The chase and arrest in Piazza Garibaldi
Thanks to the detailed description provided by the victim, the officers immediately began tracking down the fugitive. The search lasted only a few minutes: the suspect was located and apprehended near Piazza Garibaldi.
Once stopped, the 35-year-old admitted that he had already gotten rid of the stolen goods, throwing them into the street while fleeing in an attempt to avoid being found in possession of the loot.
Recovery of the stolen goods and arrest
The operators were able to pinpoint the exact location indicated by the man and recovered the bag intact. The items were immediately returned to the rightful owner, who was able to regain possession of her personal belongings.
The 35-year-old was instead placed in handcuffs: the man was arrested and placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authorities to answer for the crime of robbery.
