Naples – An afternoon of terror on a public bus in Naples. A 32-year-old woman was attacked and stabbed in the face and arms by an unknown assailant while riding the public transport. The incident occurred on Via Simone Martini, in the hilly area.
The Carabinieri Radiomobile unit responded immediately to the scene and managed to apprehend the attacker shortly after the reckless act. He is a 39-year-old man, resident in Pianura, who currently appears to have no connection to the victim. According to initial investigations, the man acted without apparent motive.
The 32-year-old, despite serious injuries, remained conscious throughout. Immediately treated, she was taken to Cardarelli Hospital in critical condition. Paramedics currently rule out any life-threatening injuries, but the prognosis remains guarded.
Investigators are now interviewing any witnesses who were on the bus to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the stabbing and shed full light on the incident.
The man risked being lynched and was severely insulted as he got off the bus with the Carabinieri and entered the police car.

I'm very sorry for the injured woman. The situation is terrible, but it seems like no one controls the buses in Naples. More security, cameras, and personnel are needed, but often they're not needed because people react without really understanding why.
