Massa Lubrense – Pierluigi Capone, a lawyer specializing in administrative and environmental law, a professor at La Sapienza University of Rome, and former Director of the Tevere-Farfa Regional Nature Reserve, is the new Director of the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area.

The professional, originally from Maiori, recently signed a contract with the organization that protects a large stretch of sea between the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi coast, after winning the tender for the management of the protected area.

The profile of the new director

Capone is also the national president of Aidap (Italian Association of Protected Area Directors), a position that gives him solid experience in managing natural areas and designing environmental protection policies. His appointment was greeted with great anticipation by the MPA's board of directors and staff, who will focus on strengthening conservation, monitoring, and awareness-raising efforts in the area.

Greetings from President Cacace

President Lucio Cacace, the Board of Directors, and the staff of the Marine Protected Area welcomed the new Director, emphasizing their willingness to cooperate to make environmental protection policies more effective.

"These five years of my mandate," Cacace stated, "have been marked by numerous challenges. My presidency began precisely with the absence of a Director. We appointed three in just five years, hampered by a series of complex procedures that impacted our actions, but we never stopped or gave up."

A new phase of stabilization

The President then added that the goal is to leave the next Board of Directors with a more solid and administratively manageable situation.
"With the appointment of Attorney Capone," he concluded, "we hope to ensure continuity and stability in the management of the Marine Protected Area. A special thanks goes to Dr. Carmela Guidone, the outgoing Acting Director, who has led the transition phase in these difficult months, ensuring the marine protection facility's continued operation."
