Poggiomarino – He was traveling with a large amount of drugs in the trunk, without even bothering to hide it. A 42-year-old Moroccan man with a criminal record was arrested by Carabinieri officers at the Poggiomarino station on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics. He is currently in custody and is being held by the judicial authorities.

Loading in the trunk without hiding places

What betrayed the 42-year-old was his complete lack of precautions, combined with the Carabinieri's keen eye for detail. Stopped in an Alfa Romeo 159 during a territorial patrol, the man was hiding—so to speak—a stash of 27 kilograms of hashish.

No false bottom, no remote-controlled compartment, or ingenious mechanical trick: the blocks were simply placed on the floor of the rear trunk. A fatal carelessness, accompanied by the strong and unmistakable pungent odor of the substance, which led to their immediate discovery by the Carabinieri.

Pure cocaine ready for cutting

Hashish, a substance of which Morocco is historically one of the world's leading producers, wasn't the only illicit product on board the car. The seizure report drawn up by the military also reveals the discovery of 327 grams of ultra-pure cocaine. The drug was still in its natural state, ready to be cut and divided into thousands of doses for sale on local drug markets.

The shadow of the clans and the "bet" system

The blow to local drug trafficking now opens a much broader investigation. The Carabinieri are working to reconstruct the entire supply chain: from the drug supply chain to the final recipients.

Given the significant value and quantity of the shipment, investigators are not ruling out direct links to clans active in the Vesuvian area. They suspect the drugs were destined for multiple criminal families and purchased through the notorious "stake" system: a veritable criminal joint venture in which several gangs contribute capital to finance a single large purchase, then dividing the cargo among themselves based on their initial investment. This method allows the clans to reduce wholesale costs and mitigate transportation risks.
